Biography

 

Born Phumulani Asnath Radebe on the 16th March 1987 at Maboloka near Brits in North-West and later moved to Soshanguve north of Pretoria, bucy was raised by a single mother, Mme Esther Radebe. She later got popularly called Busi by her family and people in the music fraternity and ultimately adopted “Bucy Radebe” as her stage name. She is currently married to her Executive Producer and Manager, Thapelo Thoboke and they both own their record label, Polokego Music (Pty)Ltd.

Bucy started singing at the age of 3 which was influenced by the fact that She was born in a musical family. She Joined Mafumbuka Primary School choral choir in 1997, at the age of 10. She then proceeded to Botse-Botse high school where the love of music grew.

Pursuant to her musical career, she joined her church youth choir, AFM (House of Praise in Mabopane), participated in all music activities in church, became a member of Kopano Chorus in 2007, joined Opera Africa in 2008 and also did productions like Aida,Princes Magogo, La-Bohem, La-traviata, Carmen, Requiem CMass and Ziyankomo.

 In 2012 she started working with Tebs David as a backing vocalist, who also introduced her to Apostle Solly Mahlangu whom she backed until 2018. 

Bucy Radebe was recruited to be part of Spirit of Praise 7 choir in 2018. She is now embarking on her solo career with her live album recorded on the 2nd November 2019 and released on February 2020. Since 2020, she has 4 awards under her wings, (2 x South African Music Awards, 1 x Crown Gospel Music award, and 1x INGOMA).
