Born Phumulani Asnath Radebe on the 16th March 1987 at Maboloka near Brits in North-West and later moved to Soshanguve north of pretoria, raised by a single mother, Mme Esther Radebe. She later got popularly called Busi by her family and people in the music fraternity and ultimately adopted “Bucy Radebe” as her stage name
Bucy started singing at the age of 3 which was influenced by the fact that She was born in a musical family. She Joined Mafumbuka Primary School choral choir in 1997, at the age of 10. She then proceeded to Botse Botse high school where the love of music grew.
Pursuant to her musical career, she joined her church youth choir, AFM (House of Praise in Mabopane), participated in all music activities in church, became a member of Kopano Chorus in 2007, joined Opera Africa in 2008 and also did productions like Aida,Princes Magogo, La-Bohem, La-traviata, Carmen, Requiem CMass and Ziyankomo.
In 2012 she sang at the S.A’s youth awards under the leadership of Joel Maphosa. In the same year she started working with Tebs David who introduced her and the other singers to Apostle Solly Mahlangu of whom they have become backing vocalists since 2013 to date. She traveled other African countries with Solly Mahlangu,i.e. Zimbabwe Swaziland Botswana Lesotho Tanzania Kenya Rwanda Bucy also did backing on Takie’s first album Realibua Jesu.
Bucy Radebe was recruited to be part of Spirit of Praise 7 choir in 2018. She is now embarking on her solo career with debut album due for recording on the 2nd November 2019 and to be released on February 2020.
